Colder weather means more time for hot chocolate, fires and love. If you recently got engaged, the winter months are perfect for planning and taking your engagement photos. 1. Let the weather have a part in your photos

If it is supposed to be snowing on the weekend that you are planning on taking pictures, just roll with it.

It will add a romantic touch to the pictures. It's very helpful if your photographer is experienced and comfortable in shooting with all types of lighting. Make sure you speak with them beforehand to

discuss what weather scenarios you might come across and have a list full of ideas!

2. Add Your Furry Friend

If you happen to own a dog or cat, now is the time to use them. It’s always a cute idea to incorporate things you love, so why not your best friend?? We love the idea of having them pictured with a cute sign because chances are, it will include an even cuter story.

3. Pick warm colors and timeless pieces

When it comes to choosing outfits for your photos, make sure you are choosing

a palette that is warm and inviting. These photos are going to be with you for

life, so make sure that if you are styling your own wardrobe you choose timeless pieces that speak to your personality.

4. Be Creative

The use of props is a great

way to make your pictures

stand out from the crowd. Don’t be afraid to incorporate

sleds, signs, personal memorabilia, or items from hobbies that you both enjoy!

5. Don’t forget to

have fun

Even though you want to

have a few serious pictures, a handful of romantic pictures, and a few candid moments...

Don't forget to have fun!

Don’t be afraid to pick up

some snow and have an

impromptu snowball fight.

Unexpected moments can

make for the best photos.
